Origination 2010 Week 4

Reading quiz

1. What is the major benefit of saving time?
Saving time equals simplicity, giving more time for other tasks at hand
2. How do designers integrate time into their products?
Like apples ipod shuffle, you don’t spend time flickering through the ipod to pick a song, the ipod machine picks a song at random for you.
3. Explain the relationship between making waiting shorter with making waiting more
tolerable
making time more tolerable isn’t to make time shorter but making the wait more easy to stand. For example when you call up customer support
4. How can you use your timeline to increase your own efficiency as a designer?
you prioritize on dividing the job into different time sessions to complete each section of the task, also to have finished a job by or before the deadline, you have more time to take a break then continue with another task/ job
5. Briefly outline an event or activity in which you are adept at time saving?
putting on a shirt: normaly when shirt is inside out you would normaly have to flip the shirt inside out, but i found a way to put on the shirt while it is is inside out and wear it as if you just unfolded it and put it on. when the shirt is inside out, just put it on head first and it will end up the same. with this is saves about 20-30 seconds but it you are in a hurry it could be useful
6. What part of your design process do you need to improve at, in terms of saving
time?
probably the refining process, it takes me awhile to focus on getting everything refined and finished. this is because i always put in to much time editing 1 bit to get it perfect and leave little time for the other bits to be finish.

this shirt i have designed myself

Pros and Cons of using google docs.

Thinking Game – Analyzing Patterns / Branding

1. the name “point” – meaning / effectiveness
Using it in a design way is rather quite clever and can be used in many ways. an example could be 'Lets get to the Point' which in he design industry mean exactly as it sounds, and you show the exhibitors your best designs, so no playing around but get straight to the point and show them your serious side. it is indeed effective as it is a play on words and means quite a lot.

2. the graphic pattern – inferred meaning / effectiveness

The graphic is rather cool, as it is a halftone image but warped into a pointy shape, to match the name "Point". it is effective and a mind blower, because the name of the exhibition is "Point" when the image is made up of circles which are round and have no edges.
